"We, the people of the State of Florida, being grateful to Almighty God.... have inalienable rights..... to enjoy and defend life…” (FL Constitution)

We must "hold these Truths"! Please petition at the polls!

Suggestions For Petitioning at the Polls:

1. Check your sample ballot for a listing of polling locations or go to your county supervisor of elections website to see if they give a list of polling locations in your county.

2. Determine which polling locations will be the most heavily trafficked and focus on covering those if possible. You can find this out one of two ways: Some counties have a ratio or percentage of voting based on precincts listed on their website…this would be helpful. Otherwise call the supervisor of elections and ask them if they could suggest to you which locations would be used the most. Meal times are the busiest and most strategic times.

3. You have to stand at least 100 feet from the entrance of the poll building. This should be clearly marked for you.

4. a. If possible pass out the petitions AND the bulletin inserts. If you are limited on printing then just stick with the petitions themselves and print out just a few of the bulletins so you can easily explain personhood to others.
b. It is best to have the petitions signed right on the spot and mail in the the petitions to the address at the bottom of the petition.
c. You may print out 100 petitions per location (that’s 50 pages with 2 per page) and the same number of bulletins, if possible. Use the same strategy for petitioning at the churches. Give extra petitions out to those you feel will get others to sign petitions and who will share personhood with others!
d. If you are limited in printing (using your personal printer, etc.) to make copies then a suggestion for mass producing for bulletin inserts would be to run them in “draft” mode and copy them in black and white. Ultimately the pretty colored ones are best, but if it’s the difference between you printing the inserts or not, then use black and white on fast draft printer setting. The petitions print out just fine on a draft setting as well!

5. Along with several petitions and some bulletin inserts on each clipboard include a volunteer sign up sheet. Encourage people to share their email address so that we can keep them informed as the movement grows.

6. Make sure to take some water and chairs for you with clipboards and pens for the petitions and maybe a basket or two for your signed petitions. You can print out the prolife petition signs found on the www.personhoodfl.com under resources.

7. Another identifying help would be to wear a TASTEFUL pro-life T-Shirt.

Thank you so much for all you are doing to end abortion and save our county, even those “yet to be born.”

Republican Presidential Candidates Participate in the First Ever ProLife Presidential Forum in South Carolina

Of the candidates still in the race, Republican Presidential Candidates Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, and Rick Santorum participated in the first ever ProLife Presidential Forum in South Carolina. Read the candidates quotes below and/or watch the forum below.

Republican Presidential Candidates to Participate in Florida Awake Presidential Forum

After turning down requests to participate in Personhood USA’s Iowa Tele-Town Hall, then Personhood USA’s Live Presidential Prolife Forum, Governor Romney has dismissed yet another social conservative event, Florida Awake!, a Presidential Candidate Forum sponsored by Liberty Counsel and co-sponsored by Personhood USA.

Speaker Newt Gingrich and Senator Rick Santorum are confirmed to participate in Florida Awake! Congressman Ron Paul regretfully declined, as he is not scheduled to be campaigning in Florida at that time. The event is already sold out, with over 1800 tickets reserved.

During last week’s standing room only ProLife Presidential Forum in South Carolina, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich criticized former Governor Romney’s switch in positions, stating: “Gov. Romney also, after becoming pro-life, passed Romneycare with taxpayer funded abortions…his administration approved paying for an abortion clinic for Planned Parenthood with state funds and he appointed pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage judges to the court. So in terms of who’s likely to change Washington, I would say that his track record has not only not changed but is in the opposite direction.”

Former Senator Rick Santorum expressed the seriousness of the pro-life issue: “We need to make sure that we have someone who is unabashedly—not just pro-life—but unabashedly a fighter for life,” he said. “We are what we allow our society to do,” he said. “And if we allow our society to prey upon innocent human life, we are complicit with it.”

Congressman Ron Paul appeared via satellite feed after returning to Washington D.C. for a vote, and spoke on several issues including defunding Planned Parenthood and the importance of not relying solely on legislation to end abortion: “We cannot change the people’s morality by writing more laws.”

To get the new Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment on the ballot in 2014, we need to collect nearly 700,000 valid petition signed. To do that we need your help to petition among your family, friends, and neighbors, at your church, at Christian events, at political events, and at other public events, and with Republican Presidential candidates in Florida for the Presidential Preference Primary, prolifers have an excellent opportunity to collect signatures for the new Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment Petition.

Whether you’re Republican, Democrat, or Independent, we encourage you to petition at these events. Why? Because at similar events in the past, petitioners have been able to collect signatures from 80% – 90% of the attendees approached for a signature. Since candidates are visiting many cities throughout Florida, we should be able to collect signatures from Florida voters across the state. By petitioning at these events, prolife petitioners can easily collect 100 to several hundred petition signatures in as short as an hour or two, so look for the event nearest you to help us reach every region, every county, every city for life!

Since candidates Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum sign the personhood pledge, and Ron Paul sign the personhood pledge with an addendum, and Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, and Rick Santorum all participated in the personhood USA pro-life presidential forum in South Carolina, attending these events will not only give you the opportunity to petition for life, but also to ask the candidates prolife questions. Read the Personhood Republican Presidential Candidate Pledge here and watch the ProLife Presidential Forum in its entirety here.

The Republican debate in Jacksonville this Thursday, will present a unique environment where petitioners can gather several hundred signatures in as little as an hour as attendees wait in line to enter. Personhood USA and Personhood Florida will also host prolife forum(s) in Florida similar to the one in South Carolina. (Stay tuned for details!)

To find out which candidates are coming to your area, contact your county’s Republican Executive Committee (REC) headquarters, check with your local newspaper, and/or do Google and Facebook searches. Since you have your best success collecting petition signatures prior to the event, arrive at the events early to collect the most signatures.

While petitioning, be on the lookout for potential volunteers. Have a volunteer sign-up sheet ready to collect names and contact information of pro-lifers who want to help end abortion in Florida.

We encourage you to attend events from all candidates, even those that aren’t prolife. Report back to us with the results including the event attended and the percentage of signatures you received from those you approached. If we get enough data, we may be able to determine which candidate’s supporters are the most prolife.

So what are you waiting for?

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) was prolife! This revelation comes from Dr. Alveda King, MLK’s niece. “In advising men and women on questions of personal behavior 50 years ago, Uncle Martin sounded no different than a conservative Christian preacher does now,” said Dr. King. “He was pro-life, pro-abstinence before marriage, and based his views on the unchanging Word of the Bible.” Alveda King continues MLK’s prolife legacy by defending the right to life of all innocent humans, including the unborn, elderly, and disabled and compares abortion to slavery.

“Even as Dred Scott was considered less than fully human, such is the case for the preborn babies in the womb,” said Dr. Alveda King in an endorsement of the California Human Rights Amendment (a ProLife Personhood Amendment). “In property, wills, and estates, the unborn is considered to have rights and may have a guardian appointed. In most states, including California, a tort committed against a child in the womb is actional in civil and an injury is actionable in both civil and criminal law. The only exception to this standard is when the woman choses to abort. This is ridiculous and out of sync with all other law. Even as Dred Scott was considered less than fully human, such is the case for the pre-born babies in the womb. A woman has a right to choose what she does with her body. The baby is not her body. Where is the lawyer for the baby? This is why I support the California Human Rights Amendment (CHRA).”

Similar to the CHRA, the Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment Petition will end abortion and protect all innocent human life. Because of a bill passed by the FL Legislature last year that changed the shelf life of the petition signatures from 4 years to 2 years, Personhood Florida launched a new two year petitioning effort beginning January 2012. If you signed the previous Florida Personhood Amendment, you will need to sign the new Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment Petition. (Please sign the new petition NOW!) If you helped petition for the old petition, thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You helped us find over 20,000 prolife Floridians! Please help us contact churches and pastors in your county between now and January to ask them to petition for personhood Sanctity of Human Life Sunday, January 22, 2012.

Personhood Florida received a major endorsement this week from Family Research Council's Tony Perkins. In his endorsement, Perkins said, "I applaud the good folks of Florida for challenging the culture of death and championing life at all stages. The Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment is a reflection of a growing pro-life sentiment across the country and points toward a post-Roe era. I support the petition drive for this amendment and look forward to the day it can go before the voters in Florida."

This endorsement comes after Personhood FL adopted personhood amendment ballot language proposed by the Family Research Council. The new petition language has been designed by a think tank of prolife personhood attorneys and satisfies 11 conditions needed to unite prolife ministries. Adapting this language enables all states to come into unity anticipating and facilitating a federal prolife personhood amendment.

Adapting this language enables all states to come into unity anticipating and facilitating a federal prolife personhood amendment.

Personhood FL Directory Pastor Bryan Longworth praised the endorsement, “For a long time, we have sought the endorsement of Tony Perkins. Because of their consistent stand for Biblical values, Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council have developed a large network of pastors and churches who stand boldly for the sanctity of human life, traditional marriage, and other key issues. With this endorsement, Personhood Florida will have credibility when encouraging churches and pastors to collect signatures for the new Florida ProLife Personhood Amendment Petition. Thank you Tony Perkins and the Family Research Council for standing boldly to defend innocent human life.”

Since 1983, Family Research Council (FRC) has advanced faith, family, and freedom in public policy and public opinion. FRC’s team of seasoned experts promotes these core values through policy research, public education on Capitol Hill and in the media, and grassroots mobilization. MRC reviews legislation, meets with policymakers, publishes books and pamphlets, builds coalitions, testifies before Congress, and maintains a powerful presence in print and broadcast media. Through their outreach to pastors, FRC equips churches to transform the culture.

Tony Perkins and FRC have led the way in defending religious freedom in the public square, protecting the unborn and their mothers, defending and strengthening one man/one woman marriage, and promoting pro-family public policy.

To launch this new petition, we need your help! Will you join us and help us get the word out? We have specific strategy and we need Christians to pray, volunteer, and donate. Register today for our next conference call to learn how to contact every church, every pastor in your county.

Moral goodness; the practice of moral duties and the abstaining from vice, or a conformity of life and conversation to the moral law. The practice of moral duties merely from motives of convenience, or from compulsion, or from regard to reputation, is virtue, as distinct from religion.

That virtue only makes our bliss below.

“Virtue is nothing but voluntary obedience to truth.””

Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
2 Peter 1:3 NKJV, “as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue…”

2 Peter 1:5
“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge…”

Is there need for virtue in our culture presently? A desperate one, you answer? “If there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things…” Let’s do that for a few moments, shall we? What if we, each as individuals, choose to live a personal life of virtue and live with “voluntary obedience to truth?” What if we choose the “practice of moral duties from sincere love to God and his laws”?

Aren’t we encouraged in 2 Peter 1:5 as we read, “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue (‘without works, faith is dead’?); and to virtue knowledge”?

Indeed we are admonished twice in scripture that if we are zealous without knowledge, that it is not good as in

Proverbs 19:2 MSG, “Ignorant zeal is worthless; haste makes waste.”

Proverbs 19:2 NLT, “Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.”

Romans 10:1-3 NLT, “Dear brothers and sisters, the longing of my heart and my prayer to God is for the people of Israel to be saved. I know what enthusiasm they have for God, but it is misdirected zeal. For they don’t understand God’s way of making people right with himself. Refusing to accept God’s way, they cling to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law.”

In short, we don’t have to keep the law, we get to! But we need to understand what God wants and what God’s way to do things are. The word “virtue” is used many times in quotes from the Founding Fathers:

SAMUEL ADAMS WRITES ON LIBERTY: Year 1748—Age 28

“In the state of nature, every man has a right to think and act according to the dictates of his own mind, which, in that state, are subject to no other control and can be commanded by no other power than the laws and ordinances of the great Creator of all things. The perfection of liberty therefore, in a state of nature, is for every man to be free from any external force, and to perform such actions as in his own mind and conscience he judges to be Tightest; which liberty no man can truly possess whose mind is enthralled by irregular and inordinate passions; since it is no great privilege to be free from external violence if the dictates of the mind are controlled by a force within, which exerts itself above reason.

“This is liberty in a state of nature, which, as no man ought to be abridged of, so no man has a right to give up, or even part with any portion of it, but in order to secure the rest and place it upon a more solid foundation; it being equally with our lives the gift of the same bounteous Author of all things.…

“… [W]e must distinguish and consider liberty as it respects the whole body and as it respects each individual. As it respects the whole body, it is then enjoyed when neither legislative nor executive powers (by which I mean those men with whom are intrusted the power of making laws and of executing them) are disturbed by any internal passion or hindered by any external force from making the wisest laws and executing them in the best manner; when the safety, the security, and the happiness of all is the real care and steady pursuit of those whose business it is to care for and pursue it; in one short word, where no laws are carried through humor or prejudice, nor controlled in their proper execution by lust of power in the great, nor wanton licentiousness in the vulgar.…

“As it respects individuals, a man is then free when he freely enjoys the security of the laws and rights to which he is born; when he is hindered by no violence from claiming those rights and enjoying that security, but may at any time demand the protection of the laws under which he lives, …

“.… He therefore is the truest friend to the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who, so far as his power and influence extend, will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man. We must not conclude merely upon a man’s haranguing upon liberty, and using the charming sound, that he is fit to be trusted with the liberties of his country.…

“The sum of all is, if we would most truly enjoy this gift of Heaven, let us become a virtuous people: …

[excerpts are from: William V. Wells*, The Life and Public Service of Samuel Adams*, Boston, MA: Little, Brown, and Company, 1865, 1: 19, 20, 22–23.][1]

FROM RICHARD FROTHINGHAM’S “THE RISE OF THE REPUBLIC”, 1890

“This remark is applicable not only to the band of patriots just enumerated, but to others also whose names are household words. Through the entire struggle, the people sought out, held fast to, and rallied around greatness and virtue, and made these qualities subserve the public good. No outpourings of obloquy, no thickening peril, shook this noble trust. No gusts of feeling from temporary reverses moved them to seek new guides; but as dangers multiplied, confidence strengthened. And so it was that out of rare public virtue grew our great republican government.… [“republican” does not mean in the sense of ”Republican” vs “Democrat” but rather is defined to mean a form of government that was confined to a written standard- vs the dictates of a king who was ruling by his own whim and prerogative.]

“The great question was now discussed at every fireside, and the favorite toast at every dinner-table was, “May the independent principles of ‘Common Sense’ be confirmed throughout the United Colonies.” … It was said to a people trained under Christian influences, who habitually looked upward in every form of supplication, that the spirit which actuated the United Colonies “was as much from God as the descent of the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost, and was introductory to something great and good to mankind.”

“The issue was of a nature to rouse passion, alarm wealth, and stir society to its depths. In each colony, the friends and opponents of independence, animated at times by intemperate as well as by judicious zeal, hurled against each other the usual weapons of partisan strife, poisoned by the hatred and revenge engendered by civil war.…

“It happened that on the 15th of May a great popular movement also reached a decisive result. This bore directly on independence, demanded in November by a few, in January by only a small party, but in March by a public opinion becoming every day more importunate. This change was by no means unrepresented in Congress, which was paving the way to independence; …

“While Congress was hesitating, “A Lover of Order,” on the 9th of March, proposed through the newspapers that the constituents of each delegation should be invited to declare their sentiments on independence through their local organizations; remarking that in this manner the continent first declared their determination to resist by force the power of Great Britain, and in so important a question the Congress ought only to echo back the sentiments of the people, and their decision ought to determine the question.…”[2]

Aren’t you encouraged that virtue must begin in our hearts? Once established and nurtured there, if knowledge is added and shared, virtue will spread. With the blood of over 50 million babies on our hands, we are in great need of virtue. Virtue once saved our nation. May we commit to a “practice of moral duties from sincere love to God and his laws.”

“The sum of all is, if we would most truly enjoy this gift of Heaven, let us become a virtuous people: …”

“.… He therefore is the truest friend to the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who, so far as his power and influence extend, will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man.”

These are the Christian ideals that made this nation great. Surely the Lord is well able to revive us again. Let us pray and labor in 2012 in hope that, “as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to LIFE and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue…” [all emphasis is mine]
