Somewhere along the way, we lost sight of the fact that our goal is not to regulate abortion, restrict abortion, reduce the numbers of abortions or hammer out some sort of accommodation with the abortion lobby. Today, the most important question for the pro-life movement is: when are we going to return to our roots and drive a stake through the heart of this foul-smelling beast? And that doesn’t mean simply overturning Roe v. Wade. It means passing a constitutional amendment that affirms the personhood of the unborn from the instant of fertilization. Until that happens, this battle cannot end; it can only ebb and flow.
