Jonathan
Jonathan, dear Jonathan, my precious baby boy
Your life was one of sorrow instead of joy
I did not know your beauty; I could not see your eyes
No one would hear the sound of your silent cries
You were placed to nurture and protect within my womb
Little did you know it would become your tomb
There is but one thing comforting, there is one saving grace
To know you are in Jesus’ arms and see Him face to face
And though your life is perfect, it never was the plan
He placed you on this earth to become a godly man
Created in His image, the heavens sound one voice
But, alas, you would become just another choice
I know I stand forgiven and covered by His blood
But woe unto this land there comes a mighty flood
Of God’s fierce wrath and judgment we will surely see
Unless we turn from our wicked ways and to Him bow our knee
Jonathan, dear Jonathan, my precious baby boy
One day I’ll hold you in my arms and then there’ll be such joy!
